Facility Information
The Electron Microprobe Laboratory is a designated Core Facility that provides state-of-the-art analyses of solid materials and technical expertise to researchers - faculty and students - at the University of Utah. The laboratory is open to all researchers at the University as well as those from other academic institutions, government agencies and commercial entities. The facility is supported by user fees
Administration
Core Director: Dr. Barbara P. Nash, Professor of Geology and Geophysics. Dr. Nash has extensive experience in the theory and practice of electron beam microanalysis, and has served as director of the Electron Microprobe Laboratory since its inception in 1970.
Technical Research Scientist: Dr. Henrietta Cathey. Dr. Cathey is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory, design and implementation of analytical methodologies, training of users and educational outreach.
Oversight Committee: The Oversight Committee consists of three faculty members that make extensive use of the facility:

Dr. Francis Brown, Distinguished Professor of Geology and Geophysics and Dean of the
College of Mines and Earth Sciences
Dr. Barbara Nash, Professor of Geology and Geophysics (Chair)
